Servings : 1 big jar

Ingredients :

-1 cup hazelnuts butter (100% hazelnuts, no sugar, no preservatives, no oil added)

-1 cup date paste or packed mejdool dates (make sure to remove the pits before measurement)

-1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (100%cacao) or raw cacao 

-1/2 cup plant based milk (unsweetened)

-1 tbsp of maple syrup (optional but gives it a nice taste)

-A pinch of salt

Directions :

-Start by soaking the dates in hot water for 5 min or 30min at room temperature. (keep the water)

-Place the dates in your food processor along with the milk and hazelnut butter. Blend for about a minute. (Stop to Scrap the sides as often as necessary).

-Add the remaining ingredients.

-Blend again and gradually add dates water until you reach the desire consistency. (Add more water if you want your spread to be runny).

  • Good alternative to processed hazelnut or chocolate spreads. 

  • Hazelnut offer a significant amount of vitamin E, healthful fat, protein and dietary fiber. 

  • Dates also contribute to your daily fiber intake and contain variety of vitamins and minerals, like iron, potassium, magnesium and B vitamins. 

  • Dates are a concentrated source of natural sugars with a low glycemic index (GI) which shouldn’t cause blood sugar spikes, especially when mixed with a source of fat and protein (hazelnuts). 

  • Cacao products are excellent sources of polyphenol (a type of antioxidant) and several minerals, including selenium, magnesium, chromium and manganese especially if you choose good quality raw cacao.
